JAMMU: The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, which was closed following massive landslides triggered by heavy rainfall, was thrown open for vehicular traffic from both the sides today.

The 300-km long Jammu-Srinagar national highway was closed for vehicular traffic on Tuesday following landslides at several places between Batote and Banihal.

A traffic police official said that though the highway was partially opened last evening to clear the stranded vehicles, it was completely thrown open today.

"The movement of traffic on the highway today has been restored from both the sides. Last evening we only allowed stranded vehicles to pass," he said.

The Batote-Doda-Kishtwar road, which was also closed following landslides triggered by heavy rainfall, was also opened for vehicular traffic today.
