SRINAGAR: Senior IAS officer Latief uz Zaman Deva has been appointed as the chairman of J&K Public Service Commission, along with eight other members to revive the body that remained dysfunctional for the past ten months.

"The Government ordered the appointment of Chairman and eight members of J&K Public Service Commission ( PSC) yesterday," an official spokesman said.

The Commission, which is tasked with recruiting gazetted officers to various departments of the state government, has remained dysfunctional since the retirement of the previous chairman S L Bhat in September last year. The government had failed to nominate a successor.

Members appointed to the commission include Tashi Dorjee, Lal Chand, Jaipal Singh, Ali Asgar Choudhary, Posh Charak, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Mushtaq Ahmed Lone and Suresh Kumar Sharma, the spokesman added.
