NEW DELHI: Forty one officials and family members of GSM industry body COAI have been airlifted during the rescue operations in flood-hit Jammu & Kashmir region.

The members had gone to Srinagar on a three-day recreational tour. The individuals were airlifted by the Indian Air Force helicopters and taken to the Srinagar airport from where they boarded a special Air India flight to the national capital.

Thousands of people are stranded due to flood fury even as massive rescue operations are underway with most parts of Srinagar city still under water while the communication network has been badly affected.

COAI couldn’t be reached for comments.

The lobby group represents Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Idea Cellular, Aircel and Reliance Jio Infocomm as well as Facebook.
