Jammu & Kashmir CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for Article 370, Deputy indicates otherwise
SRINAGAR: The two coalition partners in Jammu & Kashmir, PDP and BJP, continue to ride different horses regarding their respective stands on the special status of the state. Chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and his deputy from BJP Nirmal Singh contradicted each other on the issue during their Independence Day speeches.

Sayeed at a function in Srinagar vowed to protect the special status of the state, while Singh at another state function in Jammu paid tributes to Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, who believed in complete abolition of article 370, which grants special status to J&K.

The authorities had imposed undeclared curfew in Kashmir; Internet and cellphone networks were also snapped for more than six hours.
