Jammu bandh extended till August 31

Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti (SAYSS), spearheading the shrine land stir, has extended the bandh call in Jammu region till August 31.

JAMMU: Demanding that the Amarnath issue be settled immediately, Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti (SAYSS), spearheading the shrine land stir, has extended the bandh call in Jammu region till August 31.

"In view of the dilly dallying tactics of the Government on the issue, the Samiti has decided to continue its agitation and so it extended the bandh upto August 31," SAYSS Convenor Leela Karan Sharma told reporters here on Sunday night.

He maintained that the demands put forth by the Samiti before the Government are clear and unambiguous and that the issue should be settled immediately.

Sharma also accused the Centre and State Government of delaying the decision to handover the land to the Amarnath shrine board due to pressure from separatists.

The Samiti will hold rallies on August 27 and August 31 to press its demands.
