Tamil Nadu government today announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of an army jawan killed in a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu government today announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of an army jawan killed in a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa expressed grief over the death of Lance Naik V Anthony, who was guarding the rear gate of 111 Rocket regiment that came under attack yesterday.

The jawan hails from Villupuram district in the state. "I have directed that Rs 10 lakh be paid to the family of Lance Naik Anthony," she said in an official statement.

Heavily-armed suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba militants from Pakistan in combat uniform had carried out terror strikes in Jammu region in twin audacious attacks, killing three people including Anthony.
