The Modi government had called off talks with the government in Islamabad, a few days ago, after Pakistan the High Commissioner met J&K’s separatists. The House resolution also urged the Centre to take “effective steps” for preventing shelling on the international border and line of control and rehabilitate population displaced by the shelling.
“The House resolves that the state government must urge the Union government to resume process of Indo-Pak dialogue to ensure peace and stability in the subcontinent in general and state of J&K in particular,” the resolution adopted by the House read.
Moved by legislative council chairman Amrit Malhotra, who belongs to Congress, the resolution was adopted without much discussion. Panthers Party members walked out in protest and two Congressmen wanted an amendment which was rejected by others. BJP does not have a presence in the House.
