Jamir to be sworn-in as Maharashtra Governor

Goa Governor Sanayangba Chubatoshi Jamir will be sworn-in as Governor of Maharashtra on Sunday.

MUMBAI: Goa Governor Sanayangba Chubatoshi Jamir will be sworn-in as Governor of Maharashtra on Sunday.

Chief Justice of Bombay High Court will administer oath of office to Jamir. The swearing ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Raj Bhawan.

Jamir, 77, will address the joint sitting on Monday when the budget session of State Legislature commences.

Jamir will take additional duties of Maharashtra in the wake of S.M. Krishna's resignation on March 5.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna had resigned as Maharashtra's Governor to return to active politics in his home state.

S M Krishna left state politics after the 2004 Assembly Elections, when the Congress was forced to form a coalition with the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) to stay in power.
