Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh is being monitored: Assam Director General of Police, Mukesh Sahay

Recently, there were a report that five people from Bangladesh through Meghalaya has entered Assam. This has caused discomfort to the security agencies.

GUWAHATI: Assam police is maintaining close watch on the Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh ( JMB) module operating in the state.

Assam Director General of Police, Mukesh Sahay said, “In last two years, we have arrested 48 JMB operatives, two prime JMB operatives Sahidul and Jahidul is still absconding and we are on look for them.”

He added, “We have been able to break the JMB module and some are on run.”

Recently, there were a report that five people from Bangladesh through Meghalaya has entered Assam. This has caused discomfort to the security agencies.

Sahay said, “There were some reports from our sister agencies. However this is still unverified, unconfirmed reports. We have issued alert to districts bordering Bangladesh.”

The DGP added that police is monitoring the cyberspace. “There is no much signal of ISIS in ground or in social media in Assam. We are constantly monitoring the situation.”

Sahay said, “The recent happening in Bangladesh definitely is a matter of concern and we cannot remain oblivious to what is happening in the world. However in Assam there is no reason to panic.”
