Jairam Ramesh to address Finnish Parliament

Eight months after he moved out of the environment ministry, Jairam Ramesh continues to be a sought after speaker on matters related to environment and sustainability.

NEW DELHI: Eight months after he moved out of the environment ministry, Jairam Ramesh continues to be a sought after speaker on matters related to environment and sustainability. The rural development minister has been invited by the Finnish government to address their Parliament on April 11. He will be the first foreigner to address the Finnish Parliament.

“Your presence and contribution, given your role as a member of the UN panel on global sustainability, would be highly appreciated as the Finnish Parliament discusses the sustainable and effective use of natural resources as part if the preparations to the Rio+20 Conference in Brazil,” the minister for international development Heidi Hautala wrote extending the invitation. Ramesh was a member of the UN Secretary General’s panel on global sustainability.
