Jairam Ramesh today asked Jharkhand government to send detailed report on the state's drought situation to the Empowered Group of Ministers.

RANCHI: Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh today asked Jharkhand government to send detailed report on the state's drought situation to the Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) headed by Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar.

"Jharkhand has also received deficient rain, particularly in eight districts. I have asked the authorities to send a report to EGoM before it meets on Tuesday," Ramesh told reporters here.

The union minister was here to review developmental programmes under his ministry.

The state government has already announced Rs 410 crore package for farmers to deal with the drought situation.

The state had last year registered a bumper crop following good rains.
