WASHINGTON: The deadly serial blasts in Jaipur sparked strong global condemnation on Wednesday with countries like the US, Britain, Japan and Israel pledging support to India in its fight to stamp out the scourge of terrorism.

The United States said there is no justification for the murder of innocents and expressed its "deepest sympathies" to the government and the people of India.

"The United States stands with the government and people of India in their ongoing fight to eliminate the scourge of terrorism, and to ensure an open, democratic, peaceful, and prosperous society," US State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said.

Republican Co-Chair of the Congressional India Caucus on India and Indian Americans, Joe Wilson, called the bombings "senseless". The Indian community organisations in the US expressed shock and appealed to people of all faiths to stay united to defeat the terrorists.

In neighbouring Canada, Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxime Bernier said his country stands "firmly united with the government of India, a proud and strong democracy, in condemning these acts of terror."

"Canada and India have a shared commitment to freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law. Among our mutual priorities is close cooperation to fight terrorism," he said.
