JAIPUR: A city-based citizen forum of social activists today demanded resignation of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who is embroiled in the raging Lalitgate row.

Jaipur Citizen Forum held a two-hour protest demanding the resignation of Rajasthan Chief Minister for her "draft statement" supporting tainted former IPL chief Lalit Modi. Hundreads of activists under the banner carried placards of 'Raje's Resignation' at Ambedkar circle here in the evening, police said.

It was a peaceful demonstration and no effigy was burnt, they said. Speaking to reporters, Kavita Srivastava, noted social activist of People's Union for Civil Liberty (PUCL) said the documents signed by Chief Minister Raje for the former IPL boss was "anti-Constitution", hence there should be a probe into the matter.

Accompanied by various prominent activists like Prem Krishna, Rashid and Sawai Singh, she demanded that Raje should quit the post to pave way for fair investigation and an FIR be lodged against her.

It was quite evident that both Raje and her son Dushyant Singh were involved in alleged corruption and signing of documents in favour of Lalit Modi, Srivastava said. A competent Lokpal should be there to probe such cases, if any, against the Prime Minister or the Chief Minister, she added.

The Chief Minister is in the dock for reportedly giving an affidavit in favour of Lalit Modi, former IPL Commissioner who is facing ED probe into alleged money laundering in connection with organising of IPL tournament.
