New Delhi: Rajya Sabha member and senior lawyer Kapil Sibal on Saturday said former vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar has been incommunicado since resigning from the second highest office of the country last month and that his whereabouts remained unknown. Sibal, a former Union law minister, said efforts by him and many other opposition leaders to get in touch with Dhankhar had failed and therefore Union home minister Amit Shah should make a public statement regarding the whereabouts and personal status of the former vice president.

Addressing a press conference, Sibal said such a thing had never happened earlier. "After his (Dhankhar's) resignation, we do not know anything about his whereabouts. I had earlier called him and his PA took the call and said he was resting. After that, no one is answering the phone. Many (opposition) leaders also said that he has not been answering the phone calls. When he was in office, he went out of the way to help the government, but now it seems that the opposition will have to protect him".
