Jagan to be quizzed by CBI for 3rd day tomorrow

HYDERABAD: YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy was today grilled for the second consecutive day by the CBI in connection with the disproportionate assets case and his questioning will continue tomorrow as well.

The CBI, which had yesterday grilled the Kadapa MP for eight hours, today questioned him for over seven hours.

After today's questioning, Jagan said that the 'Q&A' session of the investigating agency went of 'peacefully'.

"Things went off peacefully. They sought some clarifications, which I gave them. Tomorrow, I think I should come once again. I think they would ask for some more clarifications tomorrow, which I will be giving them," Jagan told reporters while coming out of CBI's temporary office at Raj Bhavan Road, where he was questioned.

Jagan is the prime accused in the disproportionate assets case, in which, the CBI has alleged that several investors put money in his companies as a quid pro quo for largesses doled out to them by the then Y S Rajasekhara Reddy Government.

CBI sources said the session went around the alleged irregularities with regard to the Vadarevu and Nizampatnam Ports and Industrial Corridor (VANPIC) project.

The CBI had already arrested state Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao, who held infrastructure portfolio during Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's regime.

CBI alleged that the government orders issued by Mopidevi and Brahamanda Reddy with regard to VANPIC project were not according to the Cabinet decisions.

Jagan was questioned today for the second time since the CBI had lodged an FIR against him in August last and had subsequently filed three charge sheets against him.

The CBI alleges that Jagan "influenced" his father and late Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy into doling out favours to select investors as a quid-pro-quo for investing into his businesses.

Congress MP and staunch supporter of Jagan, Sabbam Hari who accompanied the YSR Congress Party chief to the CBI office said the investigating agency may not arrest his leader till May, 28 when the court is scheduled to hear his bail plea.
