It's vendetta politics, aimed at targeting main Opposition: Congress

The Congress has termed the ED raids on the National Herald Offices, including in Delhi, as part of the ruling establishment's "continued attack" on the principal opposition party and called it an act of "vendetta politics". A group of Congress workers staged a protest outside the Herald House here against the Centre and the ED action.

"The raids on Herald House, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, are a part of the continued attack against India's principal opposition - the Indian National Congress. We strongly condemn this vendetta politics against those who speak up against the Modi government. You cannot silence us!," said AICC spokesperson Jairam Ramesh.

Leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said such action amounted to undemocratic targeting of the opposition parties. "It is nothing but a political vendetta. It is purposefully being done to needle the Congress party and to tarnish the image of our party. This is undemocratic... We will not be cowed down."


Party spokesperson Supriya Shrinathe said the Modi regime was indulging in "rock-bottom politics" to settle personal scores and to intimidate the opposition. Kharge and AICC treasurer Pawan Bansal later went to the Herald House in New Delhi.
