It's almost Munde Janata Party
BJP general secretary Gopinath Munde has forced the party leadership to accept his wishlist for the Maharashtra assembly polls, which includes fielding his close relatives from key constituencies.
The second list of 20 candidates cleared by BJPs central election committee here on Monday evening contains the name of Mr Munde's daughter Pankaja Palave, who has been offered the party ticket from Parli, even as a section of party-workers protested the decision to nominate the late Pramod Mahajan's daughter, Poonam, from Ghatkopar west.
Mr Munde's elder brother's son-in-law Madhusudan Kendre has been fielded from Gangakhed while former Congress leader Ranjit Deshmukh's son Aashish has been given ticket from Savner. There are indications that Mr Mundes nephew too may be accommodated by the leadership.
BJP has so far announced the names of 86 candidates for the Maharashtra assembly polls. It will, as part of the seat-sharing pact with the Shiv Sena, be contesting 119 seats, leaving the remaining 169 seats for its alliance partner.
