IT sleuths face tough time handling media outside GMR office

Income Tax sleuths on Thursday faced a tough time braving media onslaught.

Income Tax sleuths on Thursday faced a tough time braving the media onslaught as reporters virtually toppled over each other for coverage of the survey at the office of Delhi Daredevils team, owned by conglomerate GMR, in connection with the probe on IPL's finances.

As soon as news of the survey spread, several news channels with their OB (Outside-broadcasting) vans jammed the streets and media persons gathered outside the GMR's office at Barakhamba Road in an effort to get a byte from the tax officials leaving the premises.

Seeing the gathering, tax officials scattered and walked outside the building, leaving their vehicle where they were parked.

The I-T sleuths reached the Barakhamba Road office in the afternoon to conduct the survey operation after receiving inputs from the Mumbai investigation wing of the department, official sources said.

They said the survey continued till late evening, adding, "further investigation was continuing".

A GMR official confirmed that I-T officials had visited the office.
