IT raids on ruling TRS Member of Parliament Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy family firms

Income Tax sleuths on Tuesday raided on family owned firms of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Parliament Member Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, which were awarded hundreds of crores of irrigation and drinking water contracts by the Telangana government, among others.

Reddy, who represents Khammam Lok Sabha constituency, originally got elected in 2014 from the YSR Congress Party of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and is known to be a close associate of the latter. He subsequently switched loyalties to the ruling TRS, along with three YSR Congress legislators from Khammam district.

In what surprised political and business circles, the IT sleuths conducted searches at the ruling party MP’s residence and five places of associates in Khammam and 12 premises including the office of Raghava Constructions, owned by his family members.


Confirming the IT searches, Srinivasa Reddy, however, dubbed them as routine periodic inspections. Making it clear that he was not associated with any of the businesses, Reddy said they were owned by his family members and were regularly filing annual returns.
