MUMBAI: The income tax department on Thursday conducted raids at the premises of several professionals and service providers here, senior officials said.
The raids, which began on Thurs morning, were carried out at the premises owned or operated by doctors, interior decorators, advertising agencies among others, Director General (Investigation) S S N Moorthy said.
The income tax searches today conducted raids at 500 locations in the country, including 40 locations in Mumbai on doctors, laywers, brokers, builders and other professionals for possible income tax evasions.
The income tax department confirmed the IT search being conducted but did not give details.
"The income tax department today conducted raids on several professionals and service providers here," senior officials said.
"The raids were still on and further details are awaited," they said.
The raids, which began this morning, were carried out on builders, brokers, doctors, interior decorators, advertisement agencies among others, DG (Investigation) S S N Moorthy told PTI here today.
