GUWAHATI: Senior Congress leader and Former Union Minister Anand Sharma said that it is dangerous to impose uniformity in India.

Sharma who was in Guwahati on Saturday to attend the “betrayal day” organised by Congress in Assam against the BJP led government said, “I do not think there should be any ban on peoples’ food habit, dress and their thinking process. We are a federal country and there are people of different religious and ethnic affiliations.”

The senior congress leader said it would be dangerous to diktat uniformity. “There is growing incidents of cow vigilantism and said that mob lynching has become order of the day."

Terming the foreign policy of NDA government’s towards Pakistan as complete diplomatic disaster, he said, “they do not know diplomacy and everything for them is photo opportunity."

He said that around 538 jawans and officers of Indian Army died in last three years in terrorist related attack in the country in last three years, out of which around 200 of them were killed in Kashmir alone. “During UPA’s tenure, Kashmir remained peaceful. NDA government has failed and is not being able to handle Kashmir situation”.
