Ishrat encounter: Gujarat MoS for law quizzed by CBI
NEW DELHI: CBI on Monday questioned the Gujarat Minister of State for Law, Pradeepsinh Jadeja, and has issued a notice to the state’s advocate general Kamal Trivedi for questioning in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case.

In light of the questioning of former police officer DG Vanzara in jail by the CBI last week, the agency is also planning to question former Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah in the case for the first time.

Vanzara had written a resignation letter earlier this month blaming Shah for the policy adopted by the Gujarat Police in the various police encounters now being probed by the CBI.

The probe agency had last week quizzed GC Murmu, secretary to Chief Minister Narendra Modi, and Gujarat Crime Branch Joint Commissioner AK Sharma in the matter as well.

A CBI official said the agency is in the possession of a secret audio recording that has allegedly the voices of nine persons who were apparently discussing ways to derail the probe into the case.

The said audio tape was supplied to the CBI by an accused police officer GL Singhal who was also present in the meeting. The tape was part of the chargesheet submitted by CBI in court in July in the same case.
