The high court, however, did not grant any interim stay on the trial court proceedings as demanded by Lalu. Seeking a response from CBI, HC said that it will consider the demand for a stay on trial court proceedings on the next hearing on January 14.
The high court was informed that the trial court has examined two witnesses so far.
In October last year, a special CBI court had framed charges against Lalu, Rabri, Tejashwi Yadav and others for their alleged involvement in the IRCTC hotels case. The court framed charges of corruption, criminal conspiracy, cheating and others against Lalu. Rabri, Tejashwi and others were charged with several offences, including conspiracy and cheating. All three had pleaded not guilty in the court.
As first reported by ET last month, the Enforcement Directorate had concluded its arguments on framing of charges against Lalu, Rabri, Tejashwi and others for their alleged involvement in the case.
