Iraq pipeline fire caused by mechanical fault:US

A fire at a fuel pipeline south of Baghdad which wounded eight guards on Friday was caused by a mechanical fault, not a bomb, the U.S. military said. Earlier, Iraqi police had said a bomb caused the fire.

BAGHDAD: A fire at a fuel pipeline south of Baghdad which wounded eight guards on Friday was caused by a mechanical fault, not a bomb, the U.S. military said. Earlier, Iraqi police had said a bomb caused the fire.

The fire hit a fuel pipeline bringing refined oil products south from Baghdad's Doura refinery, which serves Iraq's domestic market.
