KOLKATA: The Indian Police Service Association of West Bengal has protested against what it claims are unfair recommendations in the Sixth Central Pay Commission, the IPS Association said on Wednesday.

IPS Association president R K Johuri told a press conference here today that there had been no "evaluation of our sacrifice and dedication to the profession" and said the association would take up the matter with the central government.

Pointing out the "anomalies", Johuri said the Pay Commission has recommended apex pay band of Rs 80,000 (fixed) to the Directors General of BSF, CISF, CRPF and Seema Sashatra Bal along with Revenue Service, Customs and Central Excise Service officers.

This, Johuri alleged, was not fair and demanded that all DGs both at the central and state level should be paid the amount i.e. Rs 80,000 fixed.

Secondly, the Sixth Pay Commission has recommended a grade for junior level IPS officers which is lower than the same grade IAS officers. This was done because IAS officers were posted at remote places and faced lot of hardship.
