IPS officer touches SP general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav's feet

LUCKNOW: In yet another incident depicting how low the bureaucracy has fallen to appease political masters, an IPS officer Ajay Mohan Sharma was publicly seen touching the feet of Samajwadi Party, general secretary, Ram Gopal Yadav.

SSP of Etah district Ajay Mohan Sharma touched the feet of Yadav when he arrived to inaugurate an eye camp at the district panchayat campus on Wednesday.

He was caught doing so on camera and later when the incident created a furore, Sharma said that he did not touch Yadav's feet but had bent to remove other people crowding to touch Yadav's feet.

Yadav who is also a Rajya Sabha member and cousin of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav is considered as a power centre in the government whose writ runs large. Officers are seen crowding around his room at the state guest house in Lucknow whenever he visits the state capital.

Samajwadi Party spokesman, Ram Asrey Kushwaha tried to cover up on behalf of Ram Gopal Yadav by stating that sometimes bureaucrats and politicians are related and they touch each others feet. But no direct relation between Yadav and IPS officer Ajay Mohan Sharma has been established.
