NEW DELHI: IPS officer Jagjeet Singh Deswal, who was working as private secretary to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, has gone back to his union territories cadre before completion of his five-year term.

The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved the proposal for premature repatriation of Deswal, a 2008 batch IPS officer, to his parent cadre, an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training said.

Deswal was in September last year appointed as Private Secretary for five-year term or on co-terminus basis with the Minister's tenure.

He had joined Delhi and Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police Services (DANIPS) and was later inducted into the Indian Police Service (IPS).
