KOLKATA: BCCI will decide the fate of IPL team Rajasthan Royals in an emergency working committee meeting called on June 10 at New Delhi after Delhi police on Thursday said that the team’s co-owner Raj Kundra had placed illegal bets in IPL matches.

At a press conference here on Thursday, BCCI interim chief Jagmohan Dalmiya said the meeting will deliberate on the reports of Delhi Police and will not shy away from taking strict action, if necessary. “I can’t say what action we will take since the meeting will consider the issue in totality, but I can assure everyone that no one will be spared,” he said.

When asked whether BCCI has taken any decision on Indian captain MS Dhoni and his ownership in a talent management firm which promotes three cricketers, Dalmiya said BCCI will probe into the issue but not at the present.

“Let the Champions Trophy be over. Let Dhoni play in peace. BCCI will eventually uncover everything,” he said.

Dalmiya also announced the name of Sanjay Patel of Baroda Cricket Association as the new secretary of BCCI, after erstwhile secretary Sanjay Jagdale had resigned after the IPL betting scam came into spotlight. “No decision has been taken yet on the treasurer post which remains vacant. We will announce it in a couple of days,” he said.

BCCI has also decided that the IPL betting probe panel will now be a two-member body after its third member Sanjay Jagdale quit the secretary’s post. The other two members are retired High Court judges T Jayaram Chouta and R Balasubramanian.

“The panel will now be a twomember team. We have full faith on the panel. They have been given no deadline so that they can complete their investigation with peace and satisfaction,” Dalmiya said.
