IPL organisers to wait for match referee decision: Modi
Chief Commissioner of the Indian Premier League Lalit Modi on Saturday said they would wait for a decision by the match referee before deciding on the future course of action.
"IPL is awaiting for a final report from the Match Referee and will decide on the future course of action," Modi said in a statement.
Modi also said that there was a provision to appeal against the decision of the match referee.
"In the event that the individual/individuals against whom any action is taken is aggrieved, such individual/individuals may appeal against match referee's decision and proposed action. Similarly IPL may appeal," the statement read.
In that case, if Harbhajan appeals against Farokh Engineer's decision, his appeal would be heard by a panel of Appeal Commissioners.
"Any such appeal would be heard by a panel of Appeal Commissioners of appropriate qualification, as defined in the ICC code of conduct and appointed by the IPL Disciplinary Committee.
"All the parties are entitled to legal representation throughout the process.
"The conclusion of the Appeal Commissioners shall be final and will also be made public," the statement added.
