New Delhi: A Delhi court has allowed the police five days’ custodial interrogation of environmental activist Disha Ravi after they said “detailed interrogation” is “necessary” to unravel information pertaining pro-Khalistan group Poetic Justice Foundation and “identify its active members”.

Twenty-one-year-old Ravi was arrested by Delhi Police on the night of February 13 from Bengaluru on the allegation that she played a key role in editing a Google document which was shared as “toolkit” related to the farmers’ protests. Police had sought seven days’ custodial interrogation after she was remanded in custody on Sunday.

A copy of the court order made available on Monday, which was accessed by ET, records the submission of Delhi Police. The order reads “it is stated by the investigating officer that custodial interrogation of Disha Ravi is necessary on the grounds that efforts to be made to recover the detailed WhatsApp group having vital information with the help of Ravi, other devices, mobiles used in the offence are to be recovered on her instance”.

It was stated that “for proper investigation, her detailed interrogation is required to get information on the pro-Khalistan group Poetic Justice Foundation and its active members are to be identified”.

Ravi, who was represented by a legal counsel, will be produced in court again on February 19. The “toolkit” forms the basis of an FIR registered by the Special Cell of Delhi Police on February 4 after Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg tweeted the “toolkit” for the farmers’ protests. The FIR stands registered against unnamed individuals.
