International Chamber of Commerce chief Sunil Mittal to promote UN’s goals
Mittal underlined the ICC’s commitment during his meeting with UN Secretary General António Guterres in New York on Thursday.

Mittal underlined the ICC’s commitment during his meeting with UN Secretary General António Guterres in New York on Thursday. The ICC, he said, would use its newly granted observer status in the UN system to “deploy fully the resources, expertise and knowledge of world business” in implementing the UN's SDGs.
The SDGs are among the most ambitious development agenda agreed at the international level, and it is widely recognised that their implementation will hinge on widespread business action.
“The ICC looks forward to using the unique platform that the `Observer Status’ provides to positively shape important debates on issues such as trade, financing, technology and corporate responsibility,” Mittal said in an official statement on Thursday.
He also highlighted the importance of rules-based policy making to enable trade, innovation and job creation in the context of the SDGs, while Guterres welcomed ICC’s commitment to the SDGs.
