COIMBATORE: The six-day International Trade Fair 'Intec-2006' held here, has attracted business worth Rs 760 crore, according to its organisers.
The fair, which began on July 7, was a success and garnered good business, K V Ganapathi, INTEC-2006 Chairman said.
Of the total participants, 60 per cent of them were new and were happy with 'good order books,' which would be enough for another one-and-a-half year, he claimed.
Though the majority of the participants wanted to have the next INTEC in 2007, CODISSIA, the organisers have decided to hold it in January 2008, since it wanted to provide 'enough breathing time,' and did not want any clashes with other trade fairs in the country, Ganapathi said.
Saying that CODISSIA was receiving a lot of foreign exhibitor enquiries, which possibly indicated that INTEC was becoming a selling point, Ganapathi said that the city was becoming one of the most attractive markets for both selling as well as for sourcing.
About 1.65 lakh people visited the fair, during the six days.
