West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday lashed out at BJP for the situation prevailing in Manipur and Mizoram and suggested that instead of going to other places, Prime Minister Narendra Modi should visit the troubled state. She said that BJP legislators should urge the PM to visit Manipur.

Banerjee asserted that BJP rule at the Centre would last for just six months and alleged that a conspiracy was hatched in New Delhi recently to portray West Bengal in poor light and divide its society on caste and religious lines ahead of 2024 elections.

"BJP MPs and MLAs should ask the prime minister to visit the state (Manipur). You (prime minister) are travelling here and there while Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland are burning. Whose government is there? Your government is in power in these states. Kashmir has already been destroyed."

"You are in power for the next six months at the Centre... There is an attempt by BJP central leadership to suppress the Manipur issue by making fake videos," Banerjee warned. She also said that an INDIA delegation would travel to Manipur this weekend.

In the assembly, the CM said: "A meeting was held with senior Bengal BJP leaders and its state unit president was also present there. BJP is hatching conspiracy against Trinamool Congress ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha polls. They have chalked out a plan for Bengal where big BJP leaders were present... The aim is to divide society on caste and religious lines."
