INS Vindhyagiri: Oil spilling from warship after collision

An oil spill has been reported from the Indian Naval warship, which suffered a major fire and is listing after collision with a merchant vessel, a Coast Guard official said.

MUMBAI: An oil spill has been reported from the Indian Naval warship, which suffered a major fire and is listing after collision with a merchant vessel, a Coast Guard official said on Monday.

"Oil is spilling out from the warship. It is not yet clear as to how much oil spilled from the ship," the official told PTI.

Coast Guard Inspector General (West Region) S P S Basra refused to comment on the spill but said they have positioned all the equipment, the Navy and Coast Guard personnel on the job to control any sort of situation.

INS Vindhyagiri had collided with a Norwegian container vessel M V Nordlake, in the Mumbai harbour yesterday and was brought to the Navy dockyard.
