Injured auto driver worries about his passengers
He was stuck in a traffic jam in Karol Bagh on Saturday evening when 40-year-old auto rickshaw driver Moolchand thought an earthquake had hit him. Seconds later, as the smoke cleared, he saw bodies lying all around.

NEW DELHI: He was stuck in a traffic jam in Karol Bagh on Saturday evening when 40-year-old auto rickshaw driver Moolchand thought an earthquake had hit him. Seconds later, as the smoke cleared, he saw bodies lying all around.
The blast at Gaffar Market in Karol Bagh in central Delhi killed 16 people. Moolchand, a migrant from Uttar Pradesh, survived but he still doesn't know what happened to the two passengers sitting in his auto rickshaw.
"It was like an earthquake. Everything turned dark and there was smoke everywhere. Bodies were lying all around," said Moolchand in a barely audible voice at the Jasaram Hospital near Karol Bagh where he has been admitted for treatment of his injuries.
He himself was thrown off a few metres due to the explosion. His auto rickshaw went flying in the air and was ripped apart. He sustained multiple injuries on his face, legs and hands.
The blast in Karol Bagh was one of six in three crowded market places in Delhi Saturday evening that left 18 people dead and nearly 100 injured.
J S Bhasin, one of the doctors treating the injured at the hospital, told reporters: "Most of the injuries are penetrative, mainly caused by shrapnel."
Hospital spokesman Hari Singh said: "Around five critically injured victims are here."
"Three people were brought dead to our hospital," he said. They include a two-year-old child, a man and a woman.
Twelve blast victims were declared dead at the government-owned Ram Manohar Lohia hospital and one at Gangaram Hospital.
