Infected patients from two or more districts to be kept in one hospital: UP health secretary

Amit Mohan Prasad, Uttar Pradesh health secretary announced that the state will follow the pulling of patients technique to provide care for infected covid-19 patients. Patients from two or more districts will be kept together to reduce the burden on medical facilities and also to minimise the exposure to the virus.

Hotspots have been identified in 15 districts in the state. Essentials in all these hot spots to be provided by state, added the health official. The authorities have also increased the availability of Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and they have been strictly provided to the healthcare workers for prophylaxis.

Testing will be doubled in coming days and surveillance measure will be heightened, emphasised Prasad.


Earlier today, the state government had announced sealing of affected areas or 'hotspots' in 15 districts across the state having a high case load - with 6 cases or more in an effort to prevent community spread from taking place. Uttar Pradesh has so far seen 326 cases of coronavirus, three patients have died and 21 have recovered.

Yogi Adityanath government's announcement comes as PM Narendra Modi, after a meeting with key political leaders, indicated that the nationwide 21-day lockdown could be extended.
