'Industry should work for cleaner environ'

CHANDIGARH: Industry and the youth should take lead in protecting and conserving the country's natural resources, noted environmentalist Sunder Lal Bahuguna said on Monday.

Addressing a CII meet on on Water Conservation, organised to commemorate the World Environment Day here, the pioneer of the 'Chipko movement' expressed concern over degradation of main water resources like the Gangotri glacier and urged the young generation to work towards a cleaner, greener and healthier environment.

"Three A's Austerity, Alternatives and Aforestation can only ensure tranquility of mind and balance in the environment," he added.

He also appreciated CII's efforts to catalyze industry involvement to conserve water and urged all to join hands to make the Water Conservation Campaign a success.
