Industrial Tribunal stays TERI's report against Rajendra Pachauri till July 15
NEW DELHI: An industrial tribunal in Delhi has stayed till July 15 the operation of a report of an internal panel of The Earth Resources Institute (TERI), which had indicted former UN climate panel head Rajendra Pachauri on charges of sexual harassment.

Pachauri moved the industrial tribunal on Friday seeking a stay on the operation of the report which has upheld allegations levelled by the complainant against the 74-year-old scientist. The ICC had recommended appropriate disciplinary action against Pachauri and also recommended payment of monetary compensation to the complainant.

However, Pachauri’s lawyers told the Industrial Tribunal that “principles of natural justice” were not followed at all by the committee which was contrary to the rules.

After hearing arguments of Pachauri’s counsel, Rajeev Bansal, presiding officer, industrial tribunal, issued notices on his appeal and in the meanwhile stayed the operation of the ICC report. The petition will now come up for resumed hearing on July 15.

Pachauri was booked by the Delhi Police on February 18 on charges of sexual harassment, stalking and criminal intimidation.
