Indo-Pak: CPI for diplomatic, political moves to defuse tension

NEW DELHI: Expressing concern over deteriorating India-Pakistan ties, CPI today asked the government to open "all possible" channels to initiate dialogue with Islamabad to see cross-border terrorism is stopped.

The Left party noted that the Uri terror attack made Indian Army's surgical strike "inevitable" and appreciated it for the "well-planned action."

"The CPI is seriously concerned with continuing deteriorating India-Pakistan relations after Uri incident. It made inevitable to take action on cross border terrorism by Indian Army. We appreciate the well planned action of the Indian Army," party's Central Secretariat said in a statement.

The CPI observed that Pakistan, particularly its armed forces, use terrorism as a tool to advance its foreign policy goal, but also stated that escalation of hostilities cannot be any option to find appropriate solution to the dispute.

"CPI urges upon the government to continue with the diplomatic and political moves to defuse tension and to open all possible channel to initiate dialogue with Pakistan so that cross border terrorism can be stopped," it added.

India carried out surgical strikes on seven terror launch pads across the LoC on the intervening night of September 28 and 29, with the Army saying it had inflicted "significant casualties" on terrorists preparing to infiltrate from PoK.
