India's 'kidney kingpin' may have fled to Canada
An Indian doctor, alleged mastermind of an illegal Kidney transplant factory in New Delhi, is suspected to have fled to Canada ahead of police raids that shut down the operation last week.

TORONTO: An Indian doctor, alleged mastermind of an illegal Kidney transplant factory in New Delhi, is suspected to have fled to Canada ahead of police raids that shut down the operation last week.
Amit Kumar, dubbed "Dr Horror" by media, supplied with hundreds of Kidney bought or coerced from the country's poor, was reportedly running the operation partly from an unknown location in Canada, where his family is said to be living, National Post reported yesterday.
An RCMP spokesperson yesterday said that Canadian authorities currently have "limited information" about the Indian police investigation.
"We can, however, say that Interpol-Ottawa has been in communication with Interpol-New Delhi about this case," said RCMP Sgt. Sylvie Tremblay.
Indian police announced Monday that they were launching an international manhunt for Kumar after several of his alleged accomplices were arrested and revealed he had false passports for Canada and Nepal.
It's believed he may have slipped across India's northeast border with Nepal en route to another destination.
