Indian Navy to commission its third UAV squadron on April 11

The third UAV squadron of the Indian Navy will be commissioned in the naval air station inRamanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu on April 11.

CHENNAI: The third Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) squadron of the Indian Navy will be commissioned in the naval air station in Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu on April 11.

The squadron, which would operate aircraft with advanced sensors, long endurance and ability to provide stand-off surveillance, will be controlled by Eastern Naval Command and would be located at INS Parundu, strategically located straddling Gulf of Mannar and Palk Bay, a Navy release said.

The Squadron would be commissioned by Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command on April 11, it said.
