Indian Navy engineer found dead on INS Godavari
AHMEDABAD: A 24-year-old Indian Navy engineer allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself onboard the INS Godavari, a naval ship sailing near Porbandar coast, early today morning, the police said.

He has been identified by the police as Narottamsinh Tomar (24), a resident of Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, who served as a Mechanical Engineer (ME-I) on INS Godavari.

According to the Porbandar police, he hung himself in the ship's air-conditioner control room.

"We were informed that when the ship was inside the sea near Porbandar for a routine exercise, he was found hanging in the room early today morning. Later, the ship was taken to Porbandar jetty, where the police was informed about the incident," Porbandar's Kirtimandir police station sub-inspector D K Vaghela said.

According to Vaghela, Tomar was declared brought dead at the Porbandar civil hospital.

"His body was taken to the Jamnagar civil hospital for post mortem. We have also informed his family members. As of now, no specific reason has been found for Tomar's extreme step. We have lodged a case of Accidental Death (AD) and started our investigation," he said.
