Indian Navy diver conduct search for missing family in Assam

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has spoken to the Prime Minister’s office and the Union Home Ministry regarding the search and rescue operation of the missing family.

A 10-member team of divers from Eastern Naval Command (ENC) on Monday conducted search operations to trace five members of a family who went missing after their vehicle fell into the Dikhow river in Sivsagar district.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has called the Prime Minister’s office and the home ministry regarding search and rescue operation of the missing family, a release said. He also took up the matter with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Defence Ministry for help, it added.

State Disaster Rescue Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Rescue Force (NDRF) have launched operation to trace the vehicle.


The team of Indian Navy divers along with associated diving equipment have been airlifted from Visakhapatnam by IAF AN32 aircraft for search operation.
