Indian Mujahideen operative held from Mangalore Airport

BENGALURU: The Bengaluru police on Saturday arrested a suspected Indian Mujahideen man at the Mangaluru airport. Incidentally, Riyas Syedi, 32, the suspect, is from Bhatkal in the Uttara Kannada district.

Only last week, three men — all from the same coastal town — were arrested on similar charges. Central Crime Branch sleuths said that Riyaz was picked up even as he was scheduled to board a flight to Dubai.

“We made the arrested based on information collected from the three who were arrested earlier,” City Police Commissioner MN Reddi said, without revealing more details. Unlike the previous arrest, which was made public in a press conference, the police is keeping this one under the wraps.

While the police recovered explosives and detonators from a home in Bhatkal , the City Police Commissioner denied news reports of the police having raided others house in this town.
