MALE: Indian High Commissioner Rajeev Shahare's car was damaged when unidentified persons hurled a rock at it in the Maldivian capital though no one was injured in the incident.

Two unidentified persons riding a motorcycle threw a rock at the car while it was parked in front of the mission at Ameer Ahmed Magu, police were quoted as saying by Sun Online portal.

The incident was reported to police at 6.45 pm (local time). A photo posted on the website showed the rock had made a hole in the rear windscreen of the Mercedes-Benz but did not cause any other damage.

"The police have arrived at the scene and efforts are ongoing to find the suspects," a police official said.

Police strongly condemned the crime and asked people to contact their hotline if they had "any information on the individuals behind this attack".
