DUBAI: Thousands of Indian expatriates in Dubai celebrated Holi, the festival of colours, with great fervour.

Thousands of people, including children, thronged the Dubai Creek Park from yesterday morning to take part in the Holi celebrations, organised by Indian Association Dubai.

Even though the festival is being celebrated in India today, the Indian Association celebrated the festival a day earlier as yesterday was a public holiday in Dubai.

CS Raghavan, Vice-President of Indian Association Dubai, said that about 4,000 people participated in the event and it was great to see people playing with colours and dancing around.

"Indian Association organises Holi celebrations every year but this year was great as more people came to participate," he added.

In another function at a water park here, thousands of young boys and girls celebrated the festival.
