KATHMANDU: The staff team at Indian Embassy here today donated NRs 1.4 million to Nepal Prime Minister's Fund for Disaster Relief in the quake-hit country.

Ambassador of India to Nepal Ranjit Rae handed over the cheque to Prime Minister Sushil Koirala as a contribution from the officials of the Embassy, the mission said in a statement.

The Embassy of India has remained active in extending all possible help and support to Nepal in the aftermath of the devastating 7.9-magnitude quake of April 25 and subsequent aftershocks from day one of the incident, the statement added.

Nearly 9,000 people were killed and thousands displaced after the country's worst temblor in decades jolted the Himalayan nation.
