NEW YORK: Indian-Americans for Democrats on Saturday described as "fantastic" the results of general elections in India, saying it will help in full "activation" of the nuclear deal with the US and further strengthen bilateral ties.

"People have voted for pragmatic policies of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and a second term for him will help in full activation of the Indo-American nuclear deal," Chairman of Indian Americans for Democrats Sant Singh Chatwal said.

The results also show that people have voted for progress and continued economic reforms and have rejected the divisive politics, Chatwal said.

The clear mandate will help the Indian Americans for Democrats to draw up long-term strategy to work closely with Indian and American administrations to bring the relations between the two nations to new heights, he added.
