Indian, Chinese troops meet in Arunchal Pradesh

NEW DELHI: After their face-off in Finger VIII area in Ladakh sector, Armies of India and China met today in Bumla in Arunchal Pradesh to discuss the issues between them.

"Border Personnel Meeting with China was held today at Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh," the Army said in a Facebook statement.

During the three-and-a-half-hour meeting, the Indian delegation was led by Brigadier J S Rajpurohit and the Chinese team by Col Tang Fucheng, Sector Commander from Tsona Dzong.

"Mutual cooperation and maintenance of peace on the borders was discussed during the meeting," it said.

Sources said the two sides also discussed the issues faced by the two forces in the area including patrolling.

The last BPM was held between the two sides on May 15 in Nathula in Sikkim when Indian troops had crossed over to the Chinese side.

On May 17, two days before Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang arrived in New Delhi, Chinese troops had intercepted an Indian Army patrol in Ladakh sector and prevented it from going to the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

BPMs are routine meetings between the two countries as part of efforts to create peace and tranquility along the LAC.
