Indian-American congressional aide rejoins law firm

After serving five years as a key senior policy advisor to US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Indian-American Richard R Verma will rejoin law firm Steptoe & Johnson.

NEW YORK: After serving five years as a key senior policy advisor to US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Indian-American Richard R Verma will rejoin law firm Steptoe & Johnson.

Verma will be a partner in the firm's Government Relations & Public Policy and International departments, including the firm's robust India practice.

"We know his expertise will be of great interest to our clients seeking to broaden their relationships in India and to our clients in India seeking business in the US," said Ambassador Susan G Esserman, head of Steptoe's International and India practices and former Deputy US Trade Representative

"Rich is also part of our team to advise the US-India Business Council on a initiative to deepen two-way trade and investment between the United States and India," she added.

Verma had served as Senior National Security Advisor to the Senate Majority Leader, shaping US national security policy and strategy in that position.
